Description

As one of the largest recreational facilities in Downey, Furman and Discovery Park has been a go-to destination for over 60 years. Thanks to its popularity, Furman Park was selected as a recipient of Measure S sales tax funds.  With a wide array of park uses and strong community engagement, the Furman Park project demanded an “all-hands” approach in order to deliver a successful project on the accelerated timeline. Existing facilities have been improved across the board, including building remodels, sport court resurfacing, irrigation, and an entire reseed of park recreational turf. Drainability issues were addressed via pervious pavement and a bioswale.
